Kek Sing Graduated from University of Singapore with a bachelor degree in Accountancy in 1977 and has been a member of the Institute of certified Public Accountants of Singapore since 1983.
The first 2 years of his career were on overseas assignment in New Jersey, United States for a pharmaceutical multi-national company. He moved to the subsidiary in Kuala Lumpur managing the general accounting department. After returning to Singapore, he spent the next 6 years working within the electronics manufacturing, communications and the oil and gas construction industries in supervisory and controller’s capacity with financial duties covering the Asia-Pacific region.
For the next 6 years he worked in Arthur Young – singapore, an International Public Accounting Firm. He was the Financial Controller of the firm before moving into tax consulting; servicing clients in tax compliance and tax planning. After the merger between two public accounting firms at the end of 1989 to become Ernst & Young, Kek Sing joined the Corporate Advisory Department of the merged firm to provide services in the areas of financial planning, merger and acquisition, investigative reporting and taxation matters.
For the next 10 years he was heading our firm’s consulting practice providing total business planning and corporate advisory services with a special emphasis on crossborder investment in the Asean region to small and medium sized enterprises. He assisted many companies in areas of financial accounting and controls, office automation and accounting computerisation, merger and acquisition, investigative reporting and taxation matters.
